The rules for using Lab Readout, and an honest statement of what you may and may not rely on it for.
The agreement
By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Where you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may bind that organisation.
What the service is
Lab Readout is an educational reading tool for laboratory documents. It organizes what a document reports, explains terminology, links stated values to the page they appear on, and identifies information that is missing or unclear.
What it is not
This is the most important clause on the page, so it is not buried at the bottom.
- Lab Readout is not a laboratory and performs no physical testing.
- It is not a testing, certification or accreditation authority, and it does not certify products, batches or suppliers.
- A readout is not a determination that a material is safe, lawful or appropriate for human use, and must not be used as one.
- It does not provide medical, veterinary, pharmaceutical, legal or regulatory advice, and it will not produce a dose, a treatment recommendation or a diagnosis.
- A passed document check means only that the named check passed on the document supplied.
Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity under your account. Accounts are for the person or organisation that created them; do not share credentials.
Documents you upload
You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant us only the permission needed to store the file, process it to produce your readout, and make both available back to you.
By uploading a document, you confirm that:
- you are permitted to upload it and to have it processed;
- it is a material document, not a personal medical record;
- it does not contain another person's personal or health information.
Producing a readout involves sending document text to an external AI provider. You accept that as a condition of using the analysis feature.
Acceptable use
The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms. In particular, do not present a readout as an independent laboratory result or as a certification, to anyone, for any purpose.
Availability and change
The service is provided as it stands and is under active development. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and some are gated and may not be available to your account. We aim to give notice of material changes, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
Disclaimers
Outputs are generated automatically from a document whose accuracy we cannot verify. They may contain errors, may omit information present in the document, and may misread an unclear scan. Extraction and explanation are not warranted to be accurate, complete or fit for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind. Independent professional judgement remains yours.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, nor for any decision taken in reliance on a readout — including any decision to acquire, use, administer or distribute a material.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and the monetary cap will be set on legal review.
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. On termination, the clauses that are meant to survive — ownership, disclaimers and liability — survive.
