Legal
Acceptable Use Policy
Two categories of misuse matter here: uploading documents you should not, and telling other people a readout is something it is not.
Purpose
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service. It exists because the most likely harm from this product is not a security breach — it is somebody presenting an automated reading of a document as though a laboratory had certified a material.
What you may upload
You may upload material documents you are permitted to process. Do not upload:
- personal medical records, or any patient-identifiable health information;
- another person's personal information, in any field or file;
- documents you are contractually or legally barred from sharing with a processor;
- material that is unlawful to possess or distribute in your jurisdiction;
- malware, or files crafted to attack document parsers.
Misrepresenting a readout
You may not, in any medium, to any audience:
- present a readout as an independent laboratory test, a certificate, an accreditation or a regulatory approval;
- state or imply that Lab Readout has tested, verified, approved or certified a material, batch, product or supplier;
- use a readout — or a passed document check — as evidence that a material is safe, pure or appropriate for human use;
- use a readout, or Lab Readout's name, in marketing that implies any of the above to a buyer;
- edit, crop or re-caption a readout so as to remove the labelling that identifies it as an automated reading of a document;
- present the fictional example readout as a real report, or a "not located" result as evidence of fraud by an issuer.
Quoting a readout accurately, with its limits attached, is fine. It is the removal of the limits that is prohibited.
Technical limits
Do not:
- attempt to access a document, workspace, report or account that is not yours, including by altering identifiers in a URL;
- circumvent rate limits, quotas or feature gates, or automate submissions beyond ordinary use;
- share, resell or redistribute download or confirmation links, which are issued to one recipient;
- scrape the service, or use it to build a competing dataset of other people's documents;
- attempt to make the system produce dosing, treatment or human-use safety conclusions, which it is built to refuse.
Enforcement
We may rate-limit, suspend or terminate access for a breach, and we will act without notice where a breach is causing ongoing harm or exposes another person's data. Where proportionate we will tell you what happened and give you a chance to correct it.
Reporting a problem
If you see a readout being misrepresented, or believe you have found a vulnerability, please tell us. For vulnerabilities, report it rather than testing it against other people's documents.
